MPD Unknown option --create-db

After the troubles with the last version of mpd i decided to look around for another player, safe to say none live upto mpd.

After following the wiki for mpd i'm stuck on the last bit mpd --create-db. The message I get is:-

** ERROR **: option parsing failed: Unknown option --create-db

help would be much appreciated

Re: MPD Unknown option --create-db

well i'll be...

seems man mpd no longer has the --create-db option either.  i can only speculate that starting mpd w/o a database automatically creates it (and <insert your mpd client's update command here> should be used to update it)?

interesting turn of events, if someone can confirm this, the wiki should be updated.

Re: MPD Unknown option --create-db

These two lines are in the NEWS file in the git tree:

NEWS wrote:

* removed options --create-db and --no-create-db
* automatically update the database with Linux inotify

and this from INSTALL:

INSTALL wrote:

The first time MPD is run it will attempt to discover all music in your
music root, recursively. This can be affected by the symbolic link
options specified in the example mpd.conf.

Re: MPD Unknown option --create-db

wow... while getting rid of --create-db was long needed (since users complained about long updates every day, caused by using --create-db to update the database), the inotify stuff is neat... have to try that smile
