[solved] Dive computer via usbserial adapter

I am trying to access my Suunto Vyper dive computer using the Suunto USB serial adapter. It supposedly uses the ftdi_sio driver (which I have loaded), although when I connect my the cable no /dev/ttyUSB device is created.

Any ideas?

You should need a prolific chipset into the adaptor. That will be straightaway recognized by the kernel.

Re: [solved] Dive computer via usbserial adapter

The Suunto USB cable (USB to serial adapter) is using the FT2232 chipset - or a variation thereof - so I see no point in exchanging the supposedly supported hardware for some other supposedly supported hardware.

Edit: After pulling my hair for a while I set MOD_AUTOLOAD to yes and lo and behold - not problemo. I need to figure this out, but at least it works.
