File check fails everytime

Hi there,

I have had this problem for about a week. Every time I boot, it says that it has failed to file check /dev/sda5 (my root partition) and asks for my root password to fix it and then reboot (or press Ctrl-D). So I log in as root (root@(none)) and type "e2fsck -p /dev/sda5" which forces a check, it goes off and checks the partition and then comes back all fine, I run the command twice to check it works and it says its now clean. I then reboot, and there are no problems ever the second time.

What is going on? and is there a way to stop it from giving me an error each time I boot for the first time?

Thanks
