Hi,
After a fresh Arch install i'm trying to setup a good xorg configuration.
First i installed xf86-video-ati (my card is ati radeon xpress 200m) libgl and ati-dri as mentioned in wiki. After, i tried startx (without a
X conf file & instaled xfce4.6 btw) i logged in but my resolution was not right -1024x768- (i have a laptop and i was using screen resolution 1280x800 as default in my previous Arch installation) There are only 2 choices in Xfce display manager (1024x768 & 800x600).
Then i tried to configure a Xorg conf. file by hwd. It didn't work. Then i tried a simple xorg.conf but it failed too. X couldn't load
ati_dri/radeon_dri.so modules correctly and gave an "invalid elf header" error.
In these conf files i tried vesa instead of ati/radeon and it worked but there was no 1280x800 option in display manager either. I added "Modes" line under "Screen" section.
