I'm going to buy a new box and the motherboard supports sata, so I might get a sata HD as well... I only don't know if arch can be installed on such a disk? Will the installer recognize the disk?
Does anyone use sata with arch?

I just installed linux on an Intel Board with SATA. I had to use the -ac1 patch for 2.4.22 for the SATA to work properly (shows up as a SCSI device). Before using that patch the board had ATA emulation that ran like crap but at least let me get the OS installed.

thx, so it is possible
nevertheless I've decided to buy a regular ata disk, to avoid this kind of problems, not only for arch, but I like to experiment with other osses too - and the speed advantage isn't THAT big anyway
