I found this somewhere on the web, works a treat. Just create a new bookmark and copy the below as the location. Then when you are on Youtube looking at a vid you want to save just click the bookmark.
javascript:if(document.location.href.match(/http:\/\/[a-zA-Z\.]*youtube\.com\/watch/)){document.location.href='http://www.youtube.com/get_video?fmt='+(isHDAvailable?'22':'18')+'&video_id='+swfArgs['video_id']+'&t='+swfArgs['t']}

NetVideoHunter (works across many Flash video stream sources besides YouTube) or Greasemoney and YouTube HD Ultimate.

eg, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpYm8IemzKo
after it loads change it to this http://www.kissyoutube.com/watch?v=RpYm8IemzKo
By the way this is my wife and son in Peru.

I'm personally fond of the flashgot extension. Integrates firefox into a download manager of your choice and picks up file downloads for lots of sites other than youtube.

I personally just enter the youtube page with the video, watch it normally and then copy it from /tmp (where firefox saves it while the page is open)

I use the Firefox extension Video Downloadhelper http://www.downloadhelper.net/
I am not stupid. I just have bad luck when thinking.
