Wow. Opera's fraud protection makes browsing SLOW.

Preferences-> Advanced-> Security -> Enable Fraud Protection

Opera is way faster for me with it turned off. I guess it sends every url to some opera security server to check if it's a "bad" site. As paranoid as I am, I think I'll leave this off...

Turning Firefox's Tools->Preferences->Security->Block reported attack sites / web forgeries off also results in a nice performance increase, it contacts Google for EVERY URL that passes through apparently.  Delete .mozilla/firefox/*/urlclassifier3.sqlite after, that's where it stores check info.

I wouldn't advise it to anyone who isn't already very well-learned about phishing and such, though.  A fair few sites I go to are erroneously (maybe...) listed as reported sites, too *whistles innocently* so this saves me some hassle.

I assume I'm not well-read about phishing, though. I already run NoScript and am asked for cookies everytime, so I just assume I'm safe. Is there reason to doubt this?

All this "phone home" talk sure is a tad disconcerting!

Just wait until the government requires all of your internet traffic to run through their servers!

(Somehow, they'd convice the general populus it's good for their own protection.)
