Are KMS and composite compatible in ATI?

I've recently activated KMS according to:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI … _.28KMS.29

I'm using xf86-video-ati driver. Before activating KMS, composite in KDE4 worked perfectly but, after activating KMS, compositing is disabled.
Are KMS and compositing exclusive?

compile mesa-git and xf86-video-ati-git may solve this problem.

I think they still even after two years not solved the issue 100%. Compositing doesnt work for me when KMS is running.

I have an R200 ATI with oss drivers.

Both OpenGL and Xrender compositing works for me with xf86-video-ati.

You could try removing your xorg.conf. I seem to recall having some options in there that prevented OpenGL compositing from functioning properly.

Re: Are KMS and composite compatible in ATI?

I filed a bug, and we ll see what they can do:

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36984

I ve already tried all options, I ve even removed xorg.conf and I get a lot of artifacts with EXAPixmaps on so xorg.conf is necessary, if I disable KMS, then 3D applications crash the desktop.
