after watching a tutorial on youtube and playing around in blender for a few minutes I was able to piece together this.
http://www.f3ar007.com/arch-grass-ambocc-small.jpg
i have a few ideas so im just posting this, i will continue to work on it
leave feedback of what you would like to see...even animated...
or offer help!
i can post the .blend so others can work on it too.
my question:
bascially, i want to know how to get the grass 'Hair' to respond the the arch logo and realize it needs to be bent down. and not pass through the logo as a few blades do.

Oh this is a nice start mate. Make sure you take advantage of Blender's SSS and AO, They're better than I've seen in some commercial apps IMO (faster anyway). I've used blender on a production level for some time, I've had to switch to Cinema4D, but still playing around with Blender when I get free time...they've come a long way
I may do some stuff today too
Keep up with the work. As a note on your thingie here, I'd multiply the grass in the front a bit more, make the logo really sunk in it

Do some searches on Blender sites (like blenderartists.org) for collision objects and hair and that should provide some tutorials. Also, look into using some child particles with the hair (if you haven't). You can also check out this part of my website -- I BRIEFLY touch the subject of collision objects: http://www.dadburn.com/blender/4d.php)

I've been looking for a new hobby. Maybe I'll play around with Blender a little.

The grass has somewhat of a "Wallace and Gromit" look

I don't know how you guys do it, I can never seem to wrap my head around blender. The interface, IMHO is cluttered and ambiguous

Is there any release date for 2.5, yet?

First Beta of 2.5 is aiming for around November:
http://www.blendernation.com/blender-de … g-notes-7/
The svn trunk now builds 2.5 pre-beta, so it is the "current" version from svn now.

This is wonderful, keep up the good work. I myself am waiting for 2.5 before diving into Blender again (I miss it quite a lot..ben 3 years since I moved away from it )
