SiS video on Intel D201GLY2 *again*

Cheers,

X.org seems to become my main battlefield... This time it's not X that's to blame, but this darn chip vendor SiS. If I'd knew before that this nice little board ships with a crappy chipset, I would have never spent a penny for it.

Anyway, I'll give it one other chance before I resell the little bastard. Found a driver on Intel's site via some forum (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/T8Clear … =&lang=eng) and a guy who obviously found his own solution (http://www.linuxconsulting.ro/xorg-drivers/).

But - being not too deeply involved into Linux, I have no idea how to get these alternative drivers to work. Could somebody please point me to a howto or write a few lines on how I can solve my problem without crippling my OS installation.

(Yes, the board works ok with the VESA driver, but can't go beyond 60 Hz. SInce I'm using huge CRTs, 60 Hz will make me blind in no time. I NEED 85 Hz, even 75 Hz would be a bad fallback...)

Thanks in advance!
Axel
