That update breaks kwin's compositing (it turns itself off) on my intel netbook, no problems with that on my nvidia desktop. Anyone experiencing anything similar?

Thanks for the stuff in testing Shining

I'll hop on this one as well, thanks for the info everyone.
Filling out dependencies, I've run into a bit of a problem, libxfont won't build, with this final error output:
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/s3kt0r/Resources/System/Abs/libxfont/src/libXfont-1.4.1'

No way to convert HTML to text found.

==> ERROR: Build Failed.
edit: writing back on results.
edit2: nobody seems to be having this error, and I can't find nothing similar, so I'll post this in a new thread, and in testing forum.

I run KDEmod on on Intel notebook, no problems here...

Same here. I have a 945GM and there seems to be no way to turn it on other than using XRender which is simply not an option. Pierre (out awesome KDE packager) has run into the same issue and reported this on the arch-dev-public mailing list.

I also have a 945GM, and although I don't use KDE's compositor, I experienced broken and choppy rendering in anything glx-related.
Other than that, this release is looking very nice.

Same here, intel 945GM.

same here. glx is really slow with the new packages. probably related to using gallium now, i guess.

Ranguvar deserves some kind of award for that explanation.

tested the testing version:
xorg 1.7 + intel 2.9 = crash. downgraded and never turned back..
intel 945 here.
any hints?

Are there any prerelease Catalyst drivers out yet, that support this new xorg-server already?

Using kde (not kde-mod) and gnome before and no problems whatsoever... Resizing of windows is a lil' choppy but it was always anyways... Kwin and compiz works just fine...

Does it work with Nvidia 190.x driver ?
------
OK with nvidia-beta, which Xorg server 1.7 compatible

no...
ive been trying to build mesa without gallium but i failed so far...these one PKGBUILD multiple packages thing confuses me a bit... anyone knows how to pick some of the packages in the PKGBUILD? the documentation is scarce about it

Just run "abs', then copy the mesa PKGBUILD from /var/abs, and you have mesa+libgl+intel-dri created after running makepkg (remove all the other options, like ati-dri etc that you don't need)

Thanks for the ideas. I rebuilt and installed these after disabling gallium, however the rendering remained broken. Back to 7.5.x again for me.

Holy crap, 1.7 _is_ tons faster starting up Easily 2-3sec. faster.
NVIDIA binary drivers here, same version.
Can anyone else comment on the startup times?

his definition of a ton is evidently not the same as mine...
there is no perceived speedup here.

Looks like it's fixed in the latest update from testing.
