Does frequent pacman usage inflate my system?

Hi,
About a month ago, I've switched to Arch and love it.
I settled up running "pacman -Syu" (ot yaourt) daily. As I use KDE, I've noticed there are a lot, and frequent updates with download volumes some days exceeding 200MB.
Can some body clarify if, and where pacman/yaourt store all downloaded programs, are former version automatically deleted?, and, if not, how can I safely identify and delete old version to restore disk space?

Best Regards,

They are stored in /var/cache/pacman/pkg

Nothing is deleted automatically but there are a couple of methods for clearing the cache depending what you want to remove. Your best bet is the man pages plus the very informative pacman Wiki article.
