Thinkpad X200 and battery life

Hello

Been using my Thinkpad X200 for quite sometime. When I bought it I got the optional 9-cell battery. Apparently, under Vista, browsing the internet with bluetooth off I should get just under 10 hours of battery life. I see about 5. Sometimes less:/ What tips do you guys have to try to extend battery life?

Right now I dim my monitor to under 50%, bluetooth is off, and laptop-mode is installed.

Anything else?

Re: Thinkpad X200 and battery life

i also have an x200 running linux.  unfortunately it is hard to get that low power usage.  i never had windows on my machine so i cant compare it to the 10 hours you get with a 9 cell but i get about 4-4.5 hours on linux with the 6 cell.

lowest brightness with no apps open with wifi on and powertop running draws like 10.5 watts.  i have an ssd no bluetooth.  i have never been able to get less than 10 watts.

here is a big thing to change though: go to the bios and turn off the extra antennas. the x200 has antennas for cellular network internet which appear to activate on linux.  the lenovo software must deactivate them when not in use on windows.

look at this blog

this guy is using arch on an x200s and gets less than 6 watts.  i am yet to implement all of the things he did.  like i have said i havent gotten less than 10 watts even on idle.

hope this helps and if you find any ways to save power on the x200 let me know because i am interested.
