Hi, for a while gmrun was working just fine, however, it stopped recently. I don't know why but this is the problem: I start gmrun with alt-f2 and the process starts and 'top' says it is running, but the application gui doesn't appear on any desktop (1-4).
I tried reinstalling, with no luck.
Any ideas?!

Run it from a terminal, check for error output.

When I run gmrun in a terminal nothing happens... there is no error output (where should I look besides /var/log/errors.log) it seems as though the app is running because I can't type anything else in the terminal until I hit ctrl-c.

May I suggest disabling xcompmgr (judging from your sig) and try running gmrun again?

I tried disabling Xcompmgr, however, it does not fix the problem.
Currently I'm using bashrun as a replacement. But I would still like to know why gmrun doesnt work.

Did you customize your ~/.gmrunrc ?
(if yes, then replace it with the content of /usr/share/gmrun/gmrunrc, or remove it)
I see that you are using openbox ; did you set a particular rule for gmrun in your rc.xml ?

no customization and the only rule I set was alt-f2 <command>gmrun</command> ![]()

Would restarting X help any?
I can't see what the problem would be since my openbox desktop works fine with gmrun.

Ok I got one more suggestion or I'm all out of clues.
Uninstall the gmrun package, rebuild it from abs, install the built package, and run it again.

I know this is really old, but I had the same issue way back and it ended up being the .gmrun_history file was too large or something. Just get rid of the file and gmrun will run again.
