Need help with lirc

Hi there

I installed lirc+pctv and configured the lircd.conf and lircmd.conf - And it worked - great!
But not so great now it does not work anymore. The cursor in gnome moves VERY slowly (before it was fine) and if I do an irw ... I can see that some times when i press a button it reports the correct one but some times also one or more wrong ones

irw output - I am only pressing the button "1" on the remote:

0000000000000017 00 channel+ PinnacleSysPCTVRemote

Does anybody know how to fix this? And what did I do to break it?  big_smile

Re: Need help with lirc

Could this be an interference problem? And if so then what could cause it? And why did it work in the first place?

I tried the remote and reciever on an win xp machine and it worked just fine.
On the lirc mailing list someone else had the same problem - but there was no reply on how to fix it.

Re: Need help with lirc

Oh and by the way I get this in my /var/log/lircd

Jan 30 14:52:02 HTPC lircd 0.7.0: lircd(pctv) ready
Jan 30 14:52:04 HTPC lircd 0.7.0: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
Jan 30 14:52:04 HTPC lircd 0.7.0: WARNING: could not open /dev/lirc, autodetecting on /dev/ttyS[0-3]
Jan 30 14:52:04 HTPC lircd 0.7.0: WARNING: pinsys_init(): Is a directory

But I do not know what that means - anyone?

Re: Need help with lirc

Just a guess:-
permissions on /dev/lircd, or /dev/lircd does not exist.
Are you using udev? and have you made new rules and permissions ?
http://www.reactivated.net/udevrules.php
is a good place to start. remember to use  file names that sort before udev.* so they get read first.

Thank you for your reply  big_smile
I am not using udev but devfs ... I tried to do a reinstall of arch but the problem presisted.

I am guessing interference but I cannot figure out how it worked in the first place then. Do you know what could cause interference - progs/hardware?

Re: Need help with lirc
