Hi there,
I am interested in building a USB bootable variant of Arch with ssh and a bunch of other things installed/compiled directly in it.
Basically, I want to clone an Arch installation with everything I need/want and put that on to a bootable USB stick that can run on an headless box (which has no VGA output). Can a "dd" dump do this? Any hints/pointers?
Also, is there a way to modify arch USB setup image to include, let's say, an SSH package so it can be installed headless?
Thanks,
Daze

Have a look at http://larch.berlios.de/. It allows you to build your own version of arch, then create an image of it that's bootable from a USB stick. Plus, it uses squashfs, so you can put a lot more apps onto it that with a conventional install.
Good ideas do not need lots of lies told about them in order to gain public acceptance.

That's awesome! Arch is the perfectly suited for this kind of stuff.
