Hello everyone!
I'm not sure if this is the right section, but I am a begginner after all, so I guess my doubts fit here
Q1: I installed and configured my Arch install on a pretty good machine, but I dont feel I'm getting all of it. I feel usage is a bit slow in launching applications such as Firefox or Nautilus.
I am using Openbox with some GNOME apps mainly.
Q2: Also, may be an unrelated matter, but the TTYs feel slow, and they're slow to display text, having a line-by-line effect.
Specifications
CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2,66GHz@3,20GHz
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6
Memory - 4 x Kingston HyperX 1GB 1066MHz DDR2
Q3: What should I do to make sure that all cores are being well-used, what are some packages I could compile locally that would enhance my performance?
Thank you in advance!

What's your graphics' card and which driver did you install ?
Have you read the GNOME wiki and that thing about slow GNOME and the configuration of /etc/hosts ?

My graphic card is a XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT. I don't quite remember how I installed it, but I believe I followed this guide: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nvidia
Also,
elros@blackpearl:~$ sudo pacman -Qs nvidia
local/nvclock 0.8b4-1
A small utility which allows users to overclock NVIDIA based video cards
local/nvidia 185.18.36-2
NVIDIA drivers for kernel26.
local/nvidia-utils 185.18.36-1
NVIDIA drivers utilities and libraries.
Oh, and my /etc/hosts is properly configured.

Tell me which file or command output you need and I'll post it :-)
The problem's that there aren't any freezes or crashes, just general slugginess... =/
