After some time decided to do a fresh install, no probs here, system plus gnome, only extra's are virtualbox and splashy.
I use an Acer Aspire 7520 with a wide screen 1440 x900, seems to be OK.
But.....on the top of the screen, while loading gnome, starting after the gdm greeter, I see some black lines, or dots, this depends on the framebuffer resolution settings in menu.lst, these stay on the desktopscreen and expand by using the up/down left/right keys.
If I log out and in again, the problem is gone, so when the xserver has been restarted it's gone.
Cannot find what it is.
Any bright person around to kick me in the right direction ?
