[Solved] Looking for a simple music player

Hello there,

I'm looking for a music player for a box I'm currently building. I only need it to have a GUI, playlist support and random playing. I've thought of xmms2, but the standard package comes without GUI and I haven't found any clients with random playing.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

as simple as they get:

xmms: (not xmms2!)
XMMS-cyrillic.png

audacious:
audacious1.5.1.png

audacious is a form of bmp, which is a fork of xmms... they're all basicly the same, audacious is more up to date though.

Don't get me wrong, I love mpd but I don't think this is the thing the OP is looking for. You have to build a database before you can play anything and it's not that easy to add random songs from folders. You could use VLC, which is awesome too.

You could try alsaplayer, or potamus.

Re: [Solved] Looking for a simple music player

I don't want mpd because a lot of people will be playing music here (mainly from pendrives), so I want something more drag&drop. I think I'll go for xmms, although I may install potamus as well...

Thank you all!

mpd + gmpc supports drag'n'drop if a socket file is configured - just for clarification

Goggles without question. Fast and light-weight, yet a true music manager.

You need to install an RTFM interface.

I use Goggles on my laptop, but I don't want it on this box, and either mpd because I don't need collections. I will be fine with xmms2 (which is also easier to use for non-Linux users).
