Usb installation on brand new computer > Grub error 17

Alright, let me explain briefly:

I bought a mini itx motherboard which has 2 sata plugs which I have 1 harddrive occuping one
of the connections.

Inside bios the harddrive is detected and the name is displayed as drive 0.

I used unetbooting in Vista to create the bootable usb.

The first thing I see after the manufacturer screen is:

GRUB Loading 1.5

GRUB loading, please wait...
Error 17

I have tried using flashnul also. But it's the same problem.

I've been searching around but haven't found anything which can help me.

Does anyone have a clue to what can solve this?

Thanks

Sounds to me like the unetbootin part didnt went so well, i personally use dd to copy my image, but then again that only works on linux and mac.

Did you try this part of the wiki ? http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … #USB_stick

Thanks for the reply.

No I didn't. I got so frustrated and thought it was a problem which no one could give a solution for
so I ripped out a cd-rom from an old computer and tore this one apart and put the cd-rom in it and then
installed from the cd tongue

Just in case someone having the same issue finds this thread: I found an equivalent to dd for windows on moblin.org: https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer/+download . It even has a GUI.

Good ideas do not need lots of lies told about them in order to gain public acceptance.
