Using Compiz, not GNOME, but installed every dependency (optionals included), then threw gnome-keyring into the mix. Still can't connect to any of my various accounts. Anything I should check up on?

Empathy is pretty much tied to gnome and its keyring manager. I've had the same problem and solved it by configuring my accounts in gnome. Once my accounts were configured, I could happily change desktop. It seems that when gnome was not running, the password sent was always "keyring".
I think it's a bug in mission-control, not empathy per se.

Old thread .
mission-control needs dbus to communicate with the keyring manager . 'dbus-launch empathy' should do it .
English is not my native language .

I have exactly the same problem as you. But do 'dbus-launch empathy' doesn't solve the problem. Is the problem already solved ?
I'm expecting using empathy for his jabber features (PEP, Jingle, etc). I suppose I'll have to wait until Gnome 2.28 release.

Same issue here.
Empathy complains about gnome-keyring after adding my msn account.
I tried the dbus launch, kill gnome-keyring but failed.
