timing out

When updating, i get some messages telling me that certain connections have timed out. sad This, i know is because i am on a slow internet connection. yikes How can i stop it from timing out????

Get a better connection? I don't see how you can prevent connection time out otherwise.

im on broadband, adn the problem is that the exchange is too far away. Bt sais that we should get 1Gb/sec, and when we tested our connection speed, we got 400kb/sec, but our actual speed is 90-100kb/sec. Is there any option that i can set to edit the time it takes to decide to time out the connection?

Did you disable IPv6? If IPv6 is enabled, the system first tries to communicate over IPv6 and, if that times out, it tries IPv4. Do you use the fastest mirror for your updates? You may wish to give the rankmirrors script a try.

have you tried to use another mirror ?

check /etc/pacman.conf and /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
