[SOLVED] nb200 toshiba - boot and startup slow

Hello,
I have some problems with my new toshiba nb-200, it is a netbook.
The boot and the X startup is very slow, up 1 minute for the boot ad up 2-3 for startup X (startx or login manager is same). There is no error in Xorg log....

Can you give more details on your hardware and Arch installation?

Re: [SOLVED] nb200 toshiba - boot and startup slow

Hi,
I have the same problem but I am a neewbie, so "solved... it was the controller sata...now works fine", does not help me. Could you please describe what you did in detail so that I may replicate you. Thank you.

Re: [SOLVED] nb200 toshiba - boot and startup slow

yes of course...it is the controller sata that slows netbook...nb200 uses AHCI sata controller, but archlinux does not recognize it, so there are two ways...
1) Official way (not works for me)
I found this page on Arch wiki:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AHCI
2) Brute way (the best solution in my opinion)
Disabling the ACHI sata controller from BIOS's option ad setting the sata controlle in "compatibility" mode

Re: [SOLVED] nb200 toshiba - boot and startup slow

Thank you very much firmamento! I tried the official way just to have some practice and it did not do anything for me either. What could be the problem? However, changing the settings in the bios worked like a charm. But have you noticed that your internet connections speed slows down unless you continually move the touchpad or press a key? Because I have this issue as well. If you know anything about this, I'd greatly appreciate the advice.
