MP3 plays in Audacity not in Songbird, VLC, or G Media Player

I'm having an issue with some of the MP3s I encoded/converted with VLC.

They will play fine in Audacity and on my MP3 player, but play as static in VLC, Songbird, and Gnome Media Player.

I am able to play other MP3 on all the above programs without incident.

The default settings (which I use) in VLC are:
encapsulation:  WAV
Audio Codec:  mp3
Bitrate 198 kb/s
Channels 2
Sample Rate 48000

Thanks,

Chris

Solved by changing the encapsulation to RAW.
