A bugfix-release of Kasablanca arrived.
This time, 3 patches are necessary ot get it running on ARCH, two well known patches which were already needed in a similar way. The 3rd patch is needed for the new threading included in 0.4.0.2.
0.4.0.2 is a bugfix release (i.e when transferring large files).

The package works fine, the program doesn't tho. It segfaults when it connects to my own FTPd. I'll just wait for an update.

Hmm..could be caused by my patches as well.
I'll take a look on that.

I thought kasablanca was dead... oh well, at least they still try fixing it.
Anyway, it's more alpha as-it-is than Filezilla3 which is still "official alpha". The engine is almost fine, the GUI is still at stage one.
You can get it and test it from here:
http://filezilla-project.org/nightly.php
Only static binaries yet, which is good for us, as it uses wxwidgets from CVS.

And KBear isn't dead. 3.0 alpha is released, and the CVS is quite active... so i guess they'll take the step to make kbear functional again.

kftpgrabber stalls the downloads quite often (dunno why), but its quite usable and rather fullfeatured. There's also IglooFTP-PRO which is GTK and commercial, or rather "eternal 30-day shareware"- although I guess you were interested in a free solution.

Kbear is bloat, I found it's interface uncomfortable.
Flashfxp is the best ftp client which I've ever seen.

While I haven't tested latest versions, I found Kbear sluggist, and takes an eternity to start.
Kftpgrabber has a lot of issues right now like not saving some settings, ignoring the transfer settings and queuing everything, but if you look at the buglist, many of the issues are already resolved on CVS, so it's a matter of time. But I found it fast and very modern (looking) compared to the others.
I haven't take a look to kasablanca, will test it someday.

i've to agree, that most KDE software is bloody, and that GFTP still is the best software.
I'm using Kasablanca and KFTPGRABBER right now, and i've to say kasablanca works without any problem here. I still havn't found why Kasablanca crashes at FUBAR, so i continue providing the package.
I'll continue lookig for KDE alternatives, until this, i'll use kftpgrabber (i dont know which setting you're talking about, i've managed to make it saving everything, even bookmarks if you add them over the menu and not directly over the bookmark bar).
