Hi all,
the update to xorg (1.6.3.901-1 -> 1.7.0.901-1) crashes my vmware installation. Vmware starts the virtual machine but each time I try to move the mouse pointer out of the window there is an 'unrecoverable error 6' and the vm crashes. This happens well before vmware tools are loaded in the vm so I guess it is a incompatibility between vmware and the new xorg server. I downgraded
xf86-input-evdev (2.2.99.2-1 -> 2.2.5-1)
xorg-server (1.7.0.901-1 -> 1.6.3.901-1)
xf86-input-keyboard (1.4.0-1 -> 1.3.2-2)
xf86-input-mouse (1.5.0-1 -> 1.4.0-2)
now vmware is working again.
I will post in Vmware community as well and keep you informed if I get some input.
Harvey

I posted to the vmware workstation community as well. A lot of views but not one answer yet

I've exactly the same error as you got. It looks that there's no fix for that.

Today they released Vmware workstation 7.0. I will try it next week. Maybe they fixed this bug. There seems to be no help for 6.5.3. At least noone came up with a solution in my thread in vmware community.

Excellent (and unexpected) news!
I had also tried the betas and ran into the problem, but v7.0 full works perfectly

v7.0 full works perfectly
same here. I'll mark this thread as solved.
