[SOLVED -- upstream issue]Kernel 2.6.31 and nvidia

This thread is inspired by another one, related to problems with 2.6.31 and Nvidia graphics chipsets

However, my problem is not related to a wrong resolution, but to a bizzare behavior of kernel boot messages. Namely, when the boot process is just started, ("::booting 'Arch Linux'") and it comes to starting services, instead of continuing further, the new messages appear on top of those, which have already been written to the screen...
I believe, it is related somehow to the KMS. I tried to insert 'nomodeset' into menu.lst, but with no success.
My kernel is stock 2.6.31-5 and I use the proprietary nvidia driver from /extra on my GeForce 6150 Go.

Can someone confirm this behavior?

Yeah, I have noticed this too, but it wasn't a big deal for me so I just ignored it.

Do you also have an nvidia card?
Any ideas, why this happens?

I can't be of much help in an actual resolution, but I run 2.6.31 Arch kernel on 2 machines with nvidia drivers. One is i686, the other x86_64 both using the 185.18 drivers and have not noticed any issues. My cards are a 9800GTX and 8800GTS.

Not much help but may help you narrow down the cause.
