clp-300 cups 1.4 upgrade (or something else)

Not sure what's going on, but I just finally tried using my printer the first time since the upgrade to cups 1.4, and my Samsung CLP-300 printer doesn't print anymore. Well, that's not totally true either. I have a printer test page sitting in front of me, but I haven't got anything else to print to it. I blacklisted the kernel module and purged my config like suggested on the front page. The printer is seen by cups, and as I said it was able to print a test page, but whenever I try printing for somewhere else, it gives me the error:
"SpliX Cannot open CMS file /usr/share/cups/model/samsung/cms/CLP-300cms"
This file does not exist, and my document just sits forever in the print spool. Has anyone had this too or know of what could be causing this?

I have the same problem

Does not matter if I use the splix driver or the foo2zjs one.

It can print different pages and then stop printing, but in the Jobs page they are shown as completed .

My printer is working again, it happened after a CUPS upgrade not long after my post. I've been just using the splinx driver, if I remember right. Can you describe the printer problem is more detail again? Is there something wrong wit a job shown as completed after it prints?(that's what it sounds like you said)

What happens is :
it will print the first printings.
Then for some reason it will stop printing [i mean no page will get out from the printer].
When I have a look at the jobs page, all the jobs are shown completed without any problem.

Generally what I do is to restart CUPS.

What I did right now was uninstalling foo2zjs.
Despite printing successfully the test pages it complained about missing:

/usr/share/cups/model/samsung/cms/CLP-300cms
and
/usr/share/cups/model/samsung/cms/CLP-300cms2

I got these ones with the foo2zjs package.

It works for the while but I need time to know if it is ok

I still get me first messages(about file not there) every time I print, but it prints still for me.(it didn't originally, which is why I started this thread) If the printer model is the same, then it might just do the same thing as mine is.

Hi

Not working correctly.

Sometimes it prints.
Sometimes I am told the printing was successfull but nothing went out from the printer.
Sometimes after "printing successfully" I get the red status light , then I press stop and it starts printing.
Today I had time to try every driver...
splix, foo2zjs and even the Samsung one.

So what I do is restarting the cups daemon , sometimes it works sometimes it does not....

A new thing appeared:

E [10/Jan/2010:04:42:44 +0200] Unable to set ACLs on root certificate "/var/run/cups/certs/0" - Operation not supported

I am not seeing the last bit there myself, but I haven't looked either, since I've been okay printing the last few times. Wish I knew more to help you.

Hi there,

I have a CLP315 with foo2zjs driver. Unfortunalety I have the same problem since the 1.4 series of cups. It will print some pages, and won't print others despite cups saying that the job was completed successfully. I didn't have the time yet to investigate further or try other drivers. Just wanted to say "Me Too" ^^. If I find something when I have some time to investigate I'll make sure to report back.
