How to make certain characters work

Hi, I struggle to be able to activate the possibillity to write i.e. "é" on my Norwegian keyboard in KDE software. It works on my PCLINUXOS setup, but not in Arch. It works perfectly in GTK applications, like now in Firefox...

Check in /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-keymap.fdi if you have the correct keymap selected.
The keymap setting in rc.conf should only apply to consoles I think but checking that too doesn't hurt.

No other ideas here.

Maybe System Settings -> Regional & Language -> Keyboard Layout in KDE?

I've tried the last one, didn't work. And now I tried the first one, and that didn't work either. It worked when I made a test to write é in the username field at the KDM screen, but not when I logged in and tried in KWrite, or plasma desktop note...
