Why is my Asus EEE faster then my Aspire 7520

My Asus 900 and Aspire 7520 both run Arch Linux incl. latest updates, same kernel, same gnome.
Installed Arch on the EEE on the 4Gb SSD, home is on the bigger SSD.
Installed Arch on the Aspire 7520 on a 40 Gb partition.
The EEE  boots and within a second after the gdm greeter I have the gnome desktop loaded.
The Aspire boots in roughly the same time till gdm greeter and needs an additional 20 secs to produce the gnome desktop.
I wonder why, the Aspire with dual core processor and 4 Gb of RAM should be superior IMHO to the Asus EEE.
Would appreciate any comments.

same processes when you start gnome?
same programs?
same daemons running?
probably the diferent number of modules running ..

it's weird that takes you so long to enter the DE

when i was using gnome, after login in , it only took 2-4 second to start

The SSD drive has zero read time which makes is much much much faster than the conventional HDD. That's why the EEEpc boots faster. The slowest part in modern PCs is the HDD. No matter how fast the CPU is, the hdd is always a bottleneck.

Palinux, obviously the processor isn't the same otherwise the systems ( OS , software, daemons etc) are identical.
Dheart, that's what I thought, still seems to be a huge difference.

Thank you both anyway.
