hello:)
um..recently tried installing the ice kernel from aur...
unfortunately , the rt patch failed somewhere...
so i decided another kenrnel (kernel26rtpae) with the rt patches...and yes it managed to install..
I got the nvidia-beta package from aur as its supposed to have the rt patches included? ( or was it the nvidia-beta-all....sadly..the nvidia-beta-all couldnt compile)
after installing the driver , i restarted the com....and entered telinit 5 ..
the com ..um hanged or froze upon displaying the desktop...
Does any1 know how to solve this?
Um...another point...i have read up somehwere that bfs could be a passible substitution for rt
so i am retrying the kernel26-ice ...but does any one have any idea how to enable pae for the kernel26-ice?
any help would be much appreciated..(:

Why do you want to suffer from endless compiling for PAE support, which causes performance problem, instead of moving to Arch 64 ?

cause certian audio drivers ...and many other drivers are only avialable in 32bit

On Linux ? It's not windows here.

yes ..even audio drivers...on linux
and wine is another factor why i dont change to 64 bit
i tried installing kernel26-ice ...from aur ...and set grub to boot from the kernel26-ice...but it still boots back into the default arch kernel...
weird

64 bit does not solve the RT issue..
seriously..
the issue is RT is causing the hanging or freezing of the system...
even with out with pae..
