Since the last update of xorg, etc, I have the message:
"This is an insecured session"
in place of where my host name once was, any ideas as to how do I fix this?

I got that problem, too, and found a workaround -- but as I don't know the X-auth-mechanism in detail, this solution could be crap. Please correct me if that's true.
In "/etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config", check the value of "DisplayManager.authDir". Mine was set to "/var/lib/xdm" but that directory didn't exist. Hence, "/var/log/xdm.log" complained that it couldn't create it's authdir (should be one of the first lines) and XDM said "This is an unsecure session...".
So, I created the directory "/var/lib/xdm" and removed ".ICEauthority" and ".Xauthority" from my home directory. The complaint about an insecure session is gone and there's no warning in the logfile anymore.
-edit: Someone else already created a bugreport: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/17042
