After yesterday's upgrade, my computer has shut down three times while using gnome. Once it was exactly when applying new layout through nvidia-settings. I found nothing in logs. I'm on a laptop with an external monitor, using both (nvidia Go 7400) and running x86_64. Relevant packages' versions:
xorg-server 1.7.1.901-1
xorg-server-utils 7.5-3
nvidia 190.42-1
nvidia-utils 190.42-1
Has anybody experienced something similar?

I had the same problem after upgrading xorg. I found that downgrading libgl fixed it.
I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts...

I've been searching around and I found out xorg 1.7.1 and nvidia 190.42-1 don't like each other. I'm trying nouveau. It is a bit slow with composite on, but I disabled it and it is fine. gnome-display-properties now recognizes my second monitor and I don't need to use nvidia-settings.

OMG, brightness control is working! Nouveau is awsome!

The problem now is I can't resume from suspend. I'm using nvidia again and the computer stopped to shut down and randomly crash, but sometimes resume from suspend works and sometimes it doesn't. Xorg 1.7.1 and nvidia drivers (nv, nouveau, nvidia) are quite unstable, so I'll return to archlinux later and use Ubuntu till then.

That's the easy way out, nvidia + archlinux on a laptop works perfect here and 64 bit. Maybe you didnt completely removed nvidia etc.

My card is Go 7400 and the only option I have is "NoLogo". I'm also using dual head sometimes. Maybe the problem is related to dual head. Do you have any relevant settings in xorg.conf?

Ensure that you are using KMS. If you already are, please make an upstream bug report about this.
