Hello,
I have two monitors connected to my graphics card. One on the DVI and the other one on the analog connector.
GRUB is visible on both screens. However, afterwards the boot sequence (and finally the login shell) is visible on the analog monitor only.
How can I enable the DVI port instead of the analog port?
Thanks a lot in advance for any help!

I'd have a look in your BIOS for the relevant setting.
As I've no idea which BIOS you have, I can't help further.

Hi Deej,
Thank you for your input. Unfortunately, I could not find any relevant settings in the BIOS.
However, I think it does not result from the BIOS, because GRUB is displayed on both screens.
I guess it must be a setting in one of the first boot scripts, respectively the corresponding configuration files.

Oooops. mis-read your post; you're dual-screening, eh ?
I've no experience there, I'll pass it on to those who do.

are you using nvidia's propietary driver!? --> nvidia-settings, set everything + write xorg.conf ... works like a charm
or write a xorg.conf manually

Hi,
I'm using the ATI driver for my card. There is no problem in configuring the X session (both single or dual-head).
However, the problem is present before the X session starts. Thus, I guess the settings need not to be sought in the xorg.conf.
This has the following consequences:
if I attach only one screen (DVI) then I do not see the messages of the boot sequence and I do not have a login shell (unless I use a graphical login manager, such as gdm). Also, if I do not want a X session, but rather use the shell only I am in trouble.

I have exactly the same problem. It seems that an upgrade has broken the DVI output on ATI cards...
This is my ATI card:
ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R350 [Radeon 9800 Pro]
Everything was running ok since last upgrade.
