[SOLVED] Fails loading kernel for first boot (previously install)?

Hey Everyone,
Well, this time around I am having trouble installing Arch x64 on my desktop.  It get to the boot screen and I select the default setting to load the CD and it hit the next screen looking like the following and stays there for hours:

Booting 'Boot Arch Linux Live CD'

               kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 lang=en locale=en_US.UTF-8 atchisolabel=ARCHISO_KE1AECIE ramdisk_size=75%
                  [Linux-bzImage, setup=0x3600, size=0x1c4980

What can I do to try to get this to continue so I can install?

How often have you tried it? I sometimes get that when booting off a USB stick or a CD, and all I can do is hard reset, wait a minute and try again. Most of the time that works.

Re: [SOLVED] Fails loading kernel for first boot (previously install)?

I have tried it dozens of times.  I even redownloaded the CD even though I had used my currently burned one with my laptop.  With the help of a friend, we updated the CD to the latest kernel and still had no success.

Any other ideas?

Re: [SOLVED] Fails loading kernel for first boot (previously install)?

Okay, now I got it to install with the iso-linux disk, but now I can't get it to boot for the same reason above.  The screen shows the following:

root     (hd0,1)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/disk/byuuid/d8066037-87c7-4322-82d4-f1abdedaa385 ro
   [Linux-bxImage, setup=0x3c00, size=0x1d87a0]

Any ideas on what to do from here?

I think my issue is with GRUB, but I don't know what else to do.

Any help, please.

Re: [SOLVED] Fails loading kernel for first boot (previously install)?

Okay, this makes no sense to me, but I fixed it.  For some reason, GRUB will not load on my system.  So I reinstalled, but this time made a small (32 MB) FAT16 partition at the beginning of the disk and partition table and installed GRUB4DOS on the drive.  Now it boots fine with no issues at all.  Don't understand it, and if anyone can come up with a reason why, I would love to know, but it is time to mark this as solved since the system boots now.

Re: [SOLVED] Fails loading kernel for first boot (previously install)?

Maybe you installed grub into the boot sector of your active (= bootable) partition instead of into the MBR of your first hard disk.

Re: [SOLVED] Fails loading kernel for first boot (previously install)?

That is not it, it would load the GRUB menu and I could boot my Windows bootloader from it, just not linux.  It would attempt it, but end up as:

root     (hd0,1)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/disk/byuuid/d8066037-87c7-4322-82d4-f1abdedaa385 ro
   [Linux-bxImage, setup=0x3c00, size=0x1d87a0]

Put the same line in GRUB4DOS, it works.
