I would like to ask for help, when I tried to install dvdrtools look what I got:
[root@myhost ~]# pacman -S dvdrtools
:: dvdrtools conflicts with cdrtools. Remove cdrtools? [Y/n] y
Remove: cdrtools
Targets: dvdrtools-0.1.5-1
Total Package Size: 0.5 MB
Proceed with upgrade? [Y/n] y
checking package integrity... done.
error: this will break the following dependencies:
cdrtools: is required by k3b
Am I supposed to force install dvdrtools (and if yes than probably its going to influence stability)
:?
Please help. Thank you

I'm not sure, as I have no dvd burner, but if you plan to burn dvds with k3b, dvd+rw-tools is all what you need. If you plan to use dvdrtools for other reason, I won't help you here :-)

As for it's age, tadam, look, what was released today:
http://www.nongnu.org/dvdrtools/
And if this doesn't work, there is a dvd burning patch for cdrecord, all up to date.
Well, just a digression, I don't know the differences and capabilities of different dvdburning techniques or however I should call that. But maybe someone will find that useful.

i tried a few dvd buring apps and ended out using dvd-rw-tools. In all though backing up DVD movies was a hit and miss venture in linux. Alot of RCE encrypted discs were not playable in my regular DVD player, they just worked on the computer or my xbox.
I don't know what other people's experiences have been but for backing dvds I found linux rather weak. Regular file burning was no problem thouugh and dvd-rw-tool was the best for that.
