nForce4 extremely slow...[Solved]

I just upgraded to an AMD 64 3000+ on an nForce4 motherboard.  I am using a SATA drive for Windows, and tried to install Arch on an IDE drive.  I was able to install OK (except for proper GRUB configuration), however, booting Arch was so horrendously slow that I gave up on it after waiting for about 5 minutes.

I tried both the ide and scsi kernels, both had the same results.  Also tried a CD install and an FTP install.  I'd really like to get Arch up and running again, as it pains me not to have it...

Any ideas?

EDIT: hah!  Looks like a BIOS update is going to do the trick.  I ran XFLD 0.2 and it ran equally slow, then updated the BIOS, and XFLD ran perfectly.  I'm assuming Arch will have similar results.

So... if anyone has/is getting an Chaintech VNF4 Ultra Motherboard, you know what to expect now!

(Can't believe the thing has no AGP slot... PCI-x cards are bloody expensive!)
