KMS killed my suspend?

After the last kernel update and having followed the wiki page relative to turn KMS on for my ATI mobility card I found that hibernation is now broken.
(I am using the open source ati drivers.)
I have tried  tuxonice method, but for some reason it disables the KMS (maybe the "ice" kernel at AUR is not up to date?)

when using ususpend I got the usual line stating that s2disk is going to suspend, but after that, the screen goes black and nothing happens. I am forced to hard reboot, and of course, after rebooting there is nothing in the swap to resume from.

Does anybody have the same behaviour, or knows where to find the related logs?
any clues?

Thanks!

Re: KMS killed my suspend?

Exactly the same problem here.
With both, the kernel hibernate and ususpend method, the notebook freezes after saying "snapshotting system" and the display turns off.
I too don't know how to start solving this problem, because i couldn't find anything about it /var/log.

I would really like to use KMS, but that's a no go.

What hardware do you use?

Mine is:
Intel Centrino
Dothan 1500Mhz
2Gb Ram
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 64Mb

Re: KMS killed my suspend?

I am glad/sad for not being the only one with this problem tongue
I am on a
AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile TL-52
2Gb ram
ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 (Radeon Xpress 200M)

Anyway, reading http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n … &px=NzY5OQ found out that
"Linus Torvalds has just issued the 2.6.32-rc7 release after it was delayed by another serious -- but now fixed -- regression (this time in the resume support). "

Sadly I don't feel like recompiling the kernel right now sad so I can't tell if this will solve the issue or not.

Re: KMS killed my suspend?

ok, i've some good news as well as some bad ones.
Hibernate and Resume is working now! But X freezed a few seconds after resuming with a bit of screen manipulation (some colored pixels). It was possible to switch to the terminals, but somehow I could not restart X.

[edit]
And suspend to rum stopped working too. The same problem as described above. X is freezing.

Re: KMS killed my suspend?

Thank you very much for your input smile
I guess this means to say good bye to the KMS for now sad
I may try installing it later anyway. Maybe filling a bug report is necessary.
