Interactive Boot Mode

I managed to screw up HAL on my Eee PC, so when it boots into X I have no keyboard/mouse control, and I can't switch to a terminal.

I know how to fix it, but I need to keep X from starting.  In a lot of other distros you can press the I key and then choose what services should be started, but it doesn't look like Arch has that.

And unfortunately it looks like I forgot to setup sshd.

So is there some way to keep X from starting?  I obviously can't edit /etc/rc.conf because I get stuck in X with no way to use the keyboard/mouse.

Since it's an Eee, I can't boot a LiveCD, and I'm having some trouble with unetbootin for some reason.  But I'm still trying to get it to work.

Re: Interactive Boot Mode

press esc as soon as grub loads to get to the grub menu (if it isn't displayed), press e and add a space and the digit 1 to the kernel line (or a space and init 1)

Re: Interactive Boot Mode

Adding init 1 worked.
Just adding a 1 at the end didn't though.

Thanks.
