[SOLVED] - Volume buttons on a laptop?

Is it possible to the hardwarebuttons on my lenovo t61p to mute/decrease/increase the volume?

If it is - any hints on where to start?

Check if they generate any ACPI codes (you can monitor with acpi_listen) or X events (which you can find by running xev). If you're lucky, they generate standardised X events (like XF86AudioRaiseVolume etc.) and all you have to do is set up keybindings (you're using Openbox I think so that's a piece of cake).

If you have trouble you could try another WM temporarily just to see if they come set up there.  On my Compaq and Lenovo laptops, they work out of the box with KDE.
