This is looking good.

Hi all,

I have been using Linux since late 2006, I started with Ubuntu(lasted 1year) then I moved to Debian and still using Debian.

Then my son told me to try Archlinux and here I am. I am installing into VirtualBox now but will be installing into my main PC next.
I am no stranger to the CLI and enjoy hacking, so Arch is like a breath of fresh air to me.

I first jumped right in and attempted to install without reading anything. After making a mess(but I got Xwindows working!) I decided to read the docs. (I am always like that.)

I do not have a GUI yet but X is installed, still a few problems with that bit, but I will keep at it.

I really like the Arch way and with each step I make in Arch, Debian is getting closer to the dustbin. I really like pacman and it appears to be one of Arch's main strengths.

Okay, back to enjoying myself, just wanted to say hi to everyone here.

I thought I would point you to the links that helped me install ARCH
virtually painlessly.
1) How to install ARCH http://freduardo.wordpress.com/2007/05/ … rch-linux/
2) How to configure ARCH http://freduardo.wordpress.com/2007/06/ … gure-arch/

Let me know

Also if you have any troubles just post and ask (after a little of your own research first of course)

From what I have seen everyone here is happy to help.

Re: This is looking good.

Thanks for that guys.
I am quite over whelmed by the amount of high quality documentation that Arch has. Guides that really work, wow.

My old Debian Lenny is history, I never thought I would say that.
I got Arch working fine in VirtualBox, so now I am starting to install on my main PC. I haven't had so much fun since I bought my Sinclair ZX81, and yes I still have it, it has a full 1KB of memory.
