Hi,
If you are aware of useful subject links, please, contribute . I mean, the most basic things, like a home network: two boxes and a router, say. DHCP, security, visibility...
More about understanding than about voodoo.
For instance: I've got one and the same torrent on two different boxes plugged into a router; one seeding, one leeching. One would expect the leecher to lock onto the seeder, but no: both torrents are equally happy with the wide world, but quite unaware of one another...

Ok sorry for waking this thread up but I went to the wiki to make 3 pc on a network with a wrt54gl router what I want to do is to have the three pc with a static ip the router address is assigned I edited /etc/rc.conf added eth0=ipaddress netmask and broadcast address but was unable to access the web after a reboot the reason for the static ip is 2 of the pc are mythtv boxes and as mbe sbe they need static ip address. I don't really know what I am missing or if there easy way to do this.

Read the static IP section of the wiki's network page again - there are other requirements in addition to setting the ip address.
