Hello, I have just done a fresh install of arch and I cannot ping google.
in rc.conf i have
eth0="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(eth0)
ROUTES=(!gateway)
DAEMONS=(... network ... )
netstat -r gives
Destination Gateway GenMask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface
10.4.64.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
default 10.4.64.1 255.255.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0
I get an ip address just fine, i think it has something to do with the gateway possibly being wrong.

Could you follow http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Con … ls_at_boot and then tell us where it fails?
Good ideas do not need lots of lies told about them in order to gain public acceptance.

I can't see a line such as that from the wiki in your rc.conf:
gateway="default gw 192.168.0.1"
Is it actually missing or did you just leave it out of your post?

I've read in some places (not sure how reliable) that say that is not used for dhcp and others that it is. So i have tried it with it in and with it out.

Can you post your /etc/resolv.conf. While this is set by dhcp automatically, you may then be able to verify the addresses of your nameserver.
