test page not printing

I have installed cups and hplip

I have a USB printer connected to my computer. HP laserjet P1008
From cups I have installed the printer.

But later When I print the test page it doesnt print

In the jobs it shows status as completed.

There are no signs in the printer of any sings for printing. The printer works fine on windows

Re: test page not printing

Did you try the suggestion in the CUPS wiki to blacklist usblp?

Re: test page not printing

When I did a reboot then my usb printer is detected and shows in the lsusb

I have then installed the printer from cups. For test page I got the error

"/usr/lib/cups/backend/hp failed"

then again reprint then i get the following error

"/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed"

These are few checks i found from internet. Can any one guide from the below checks

root /home/simha #  /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp
direct hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_P1008?serial=DC0J54A "HP LaserJet P1008" "HP LaserJet P1008 USB DC0J54A HPLIP" "MFG:HP;MDL:HP LaserJet P1008;CLS:PRINTER;DES:HP LaserJet P1008;SN:DC0J54A;"

root /home/simha #  hp-check -t

1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP
supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies are installed to
successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied
package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper
dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check
both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Re: test page not printing

If the p1008 is anything like my p1006, it needs the foo"whatchamacallit" plugin. Run sudo hp-setup -i, and follow the procedure, which should install the plugin.
