Error on first boot

Brand new to Arch, installed flawlessly and got this error:

Waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-uuid/c43f82cb-16db-417b-8f15-6f83f93e7259 ...

Root device 'Waiting 10 seconds for device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/c43f82cb-16db-417b-8f15-6f83f93e7259' doesn't exist, attempting to create it
ERROR: Unable to detect or create root device Waiting 10 seconds for device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/c43f82cb-16db-417b-8f15-6f83f93e7259'
You are being dropped to a recovery shell
        Type 'reboot' to reboot
Type 'exit' to try and continue booting
NOTE: klibc containes no 'ls' binary, use 'echo *' instead

If the device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/c43f82cb-16db-417b-8f15-6f83f93e7259' gets created while you are here, try adding 'rootdelay=10' or higher to the kernel command-line
ramfs$ _

Any ideas?

Re: Error on first boot

Seems it cannot find the root device which host the kernel. Were did you install grub how is your grub configuration.

Re: Error on first boot

Grub was installed on my primary drive while Arch was installed on an external harddrive. I overwrote the entire hard disk and kept the default menu.lst assuming I could always revise it later. Now that you mention it may have said hd0 instead of hd1 under Arch Linux... I will double-check. Thanks!
