/dev/video0 permissions

i can only use tvtime as user if i correct the permissions of /dev/video0. however, the permissions are set back after each reboot.

what can i do to correct this problem? thanks in advance

Just add your self to the correct group. If you are using udev it is video.

I've added myself to the Video group, having the same problem with permissions. I can't get access at all, reboot or not.

Also, root can't run gui apps (at least not atm). I'll try with root first.

I use the quick (¿and incorrect?) way. I add to rc.local my chmod and chown commands. This way I don't have to care if I'm under udev or devfs or what's next comming.

If you use udev, what does your /etc/udev/permissions.d/udev.permission say how the device is configured?

May that's the easiest way to get it running with udev.

The 2nd possibility is the one i use: dont use udev smile. But i guess that's no help to you.

Don't tell me udev is much better, i know about the features of udev, still, until the next release of raw1394 supporting udev i won't touch udev again.
