NTFS support during install

Hi,
Yesterday I fresh (net) installed Arch to become a dual boot system with an XP/NTFS OS.
I selected the manual partition selection/mounting option, yet could not find NTFS among the various FSs.
Although I managed, by editing fstab, I wonder where's the NTFS support during install?

Thanks,

Re: NTFS support during install

IMHO there is none during installation and you don't need it.

install xp first with it's partitions, leave your space for arch and after that install arch. that's the normal way.

Re: NTFS support during install

That's exactly my situation.
I didn't make myself clear enough: I know GRUB automatically provides the option to boot XP.
What I was looking is to automatically mount a XP/NTFS partition (in order to access it's data) to a predefined point, e.g.,  /windows.

Thanks,

Re: NTFS support during install

OK.. but you don't need that during install. That's a post-installation job.

Re: NTFS support during install

As Tomk says, during installation it's utterly redundant. If you want rw access you can still install ntfs-3g afterwards.

Also, I think you can still mount NTFS stuff ro with the driver in the kernel, unless it's been taken out (not running the Arch kernel so couldn't tell).
