Google Gears error message in Shiretoko

From time to time I get this message in Shiretoko while browsing:

"Google Gears" could not be installed because it is not compatible with your Shiretoko build type (Linux_x86-gcc3). Please contact the author of this item about the problem.

Anyone else having this problem? Is there a way to fix the error or to disable the message?

Yep.  I am having the same issue.  I am yet to understand how to fix it.

Re: Google Gears error message in Shiretoko

Could it be just the user agent that you need to change?

Re: Google Gears error message in Shiretoko

Sorrry if I´m reviving a dead thread. It has nothing to do with the user agent; the bug report is here:
http://code.google.com/p/gears/issues/detail?id=975

In the google code report there are a couple of suggested solutions; the one from comment #69 worked fine for me (that is, ignoring the security threat that is installing a .xpi app from an unverified source).
http://code.google.com/p/gears/issues/detail?id=975#c69

There is also a google-gears-svn package in AUR, I'm compiling it at the moment.
