VLC on top

Hey to all!
I recently installed VLC and tried to run a movie. Everything was going all right, except VLC is not running on top of the screen when i want to see a movie on a full screen mode. I still see panel bar. Tried to look for a solution in the google and forums, and without any hope.. Can someone help me with this problem please?

P.S. - My DE is KDE.

Re: VLC on top

I have to put the panel on auto-hide when I use VLC.  Not the most elegant solution but as of yet I haven't found any other way to do it.

Yeah me to, only started happening with latest version. I've switched to mplayer which isn't suffering from this annoying issue.

Re: VLC on top

The problem is not limited to panels etc. I'm using notify-osd for all sorts of notifications (Network Manager, Pidgin etc.) and the notifications appear above the video, even in fullscreen.

Re: VLC on top

I had quite the same issue with totem some time ago - when I went fullscreen - i saw the upper panel. I remember that while in full-screen I clicked in the middle of the screen once, the panel disappeared. So try it, maybe it will help you, though i'm not sure in it.

Windows works in 80 % cases, Linux in 20%, but you can make linux work in other 80% cases whilst you can never make windows work in last 20%
