catalyst driver

im in serious trouble here, got a hd4830 and installed the driver from amd.com, it works as long as i dont use xorg.conf, so now opengl doesnt work and i cannot set the screen resolution. i installed shaman but it just wont start as root : shaman can not be started as root =/ . Where the hell can i get a working driver for my radeon. RadeonHD and vesa deliver crappy performance. Would someone upload a compiled package for me? im running a amd x64 arch here. plz hlp me out. maybe an old catalyst package would help, i dunno...

Re: catalyst driver

Have a look at the wiki.  I assume, although I don't actually own any ATI hardware, that xf86-video-ati and ati-dri should be about all you need.
